Steel
Steel (hagane) is an alloy composed of iron and carbon. Steel manufacturing requires very delicate and challenging technologies. Mistakes in applying the wrong heat levels will result in fragile or defective materials. Harder steels are strong in one way; however hard steels are a compromises of adhesiveness at a molecular level and may be more prone to chipping or breakage. It is important to select right materials to suit the purpose of the product.
-
About materials
There are many types of steel, such as White Paper Carbon Steel (Shiro-gami), Blue Paper Carbon Steel (Ao-gami), Blue Paper Super Carbon Steel (Ao-gami Super). Each Steel has unique hardness and adhesive nature suited to different tools and tasks.
